Substitute Teacher - Delta UT Seminary

This is a temporary, part-time position located in Delta, UT.

About the role

This role helps students learn the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. As a substitute teacher, you will instruct classes for youth, prepare and present lessons, and may teach multiple classes as needed. The position works under the direction of a program administrator and aims to help youth and young adults deepen their conversion to Jesus Christ, qualify for temple blessings, and prepare for eternal life.

Responsibilities

• Work in partnership with a program administrator to learn the gospel.
• Effectively prepare and present lessons to students.
• Assist students in fulfilling their role in the learning process.
• Teach in the Savior’s Way by focusing on Jesus Christ, loving those you teach, teaching by the Spirit, teaching doctrine, and inviting diligent learning.
• Create learning experiences centered on Jesus Christ, focused on students, and rooted in the word of God.
• Participate in regular training opportunities to improve job performance and career development.
• Seek, receive, and act on feedback through student surveys, self-evaluations, and observations from leaders.
• Manage classroom dynamics using a variety of skills and techniques.
• Support students with disabilities, including physical, learning, behavioral, emotional, and/or mental health challenges.
• Align with the direction and policies of the Church Board of Education and Seminaries & Institutes (S&I) leadership.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• Demonstrated ability to teach, motivate, and coach students in developing gospel knowledge and testimonies.
• Competent ability to use a wide variety of skills and techniques to manage a classroom.
• Good communication skills and self-awareness of how communication impacts others.
• Ability to work well with youth and display genuine empathy toward individuals, understanding their challenges.
• Basic ability to build constructive working relationships characterized by integrity, acceptance, cooperation, and mutual respect.
• Exhibits humility, meekness, and purposeful collaboration with colleagues and peers.
• Ongoing commitment to learning and self-improvement; willingness to receive feedback and acquire new knowledge and skills.
• Basic knowledge of how to support students with disabilities.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and standard office equipment.
• Must meet the Seminaries & Institutes (S&I) conditions of employment.
• Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy.
