Substitute Teacher - Certified Teacher

Reports to: Human Resources, Principal, Supervisors, and Teachers as applicable. Non-exempt position.

Responsibilities

  • Arrive promptly at the assigned time and location to assemble materials and receive directions.
  • Park in designated areas; avoid spaces marked "Visitor".
  • Report directly to the principal's office for classroom assignments and daily responsibilities.
  • Complete a Substitute Sign-In Report to ensure proper payroll processing.
  • Check with the office before leaving to confirm return assignments for the following day.
  • Perform any special duties assigned to the classroom teacher.
  • Inspect and prepare the room (lighting, temperature, seating arrangements).
  • Familiarize yourself with emergency drill procedures.
  • Prevent students from leaving the room unless necessary; use discretion.
  • Send sick or injured students to the school nurse; notify the nurse or an administrator immediately in case of serious incidents.
  • Inform the school office if a student requires medication (only authorized district employees may administer it).
  • Notify the school office of any serious problems before leaving campus.
  • Supervise class dismissals (e.g., for recess).
  • Leave the room in good order, turn off lights, and complete other housekeeping tasks.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned by campus or district administration.
  • Dress as a professional educator (professional casual recommended).
  • Follow all district safety guidelines.

Working Conditions

  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing.
  • Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.

Location: District-wide.

Pay

Substitute wage.

Schedule

Part-time.
