About the role

Substitute teachers provide face-to-face instruction with students and ensure continuity of appropriate learning during the absence of the lead teacher. They perform related duties in lieu of the absent educator.

Responsibilities

Report in person to the school building to execute lesson plans provided by the absent teacher
Create a classroom environment that is safe, orderly, conducive to learning, and consistent with the mission and virtues of the school
Maintain established procedures of the school and classroom
Hold students accountable to a high standard of conduct

Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent required; a bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience working with children required
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Experience with and conviction for the values of a classical, liberal arts education
Able to adhere to the school’s dress code as outlined in the employee handbook
