About the Role
At Legacy Traditional Schools, the Substitute staff plays a vital role in supporting our educational environment. You will work closely with staff, teachers, administrators, and other team members to provide efficient processes and support students with educational benefits in a K-8 setting.
Responsibilities
- Support operational functions throughout the school, including driveline pick-up/drop-off, lunch, and recess duty.
- Assist in the copy room by prepping materials for teachers.
- Provide coverage for office staff by answering phones and checking in students.
- Support teachers in the classroom with grading, creating bulletin boards, and other tasks.
- Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
- Interact with students in a positive, professional manner to engage them in their learning.
- Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, lunch periods, and field trips.
- Float to areas of need to support staff breaks.
- Periodically assist in the drop-off and pick-up of children through Driveline, including during inclement weather.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Ability to positively interact with all students and create a safe learning environment conducive to learning.
- Ability to identify individual student needs.
- Good communication skills with students, coworkers, administration, and parents.
- Ability to collaborate with school staff and maintain a professional appearance.
- Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks in a timely manner.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Must demonstrate initiative and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.

- Duties are performed typically in school and/or office settings throughout the division.
- Frequent walking, standing, stooping, and lifting up to approximately 25 pounds; occasional lifting of equipment and/or materials weighing up to approximately 40 pounds may be required.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids.
- Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone.
- Ability to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone.
