Responsibilities
- Assist teachers with daily instruction
- Auxiliary support to students in achieving their individual objectives
- Assistance and care in activities such as dressing, eating, drinking, toileting and grooming
- Assistance in restraining students
- Tutoring students individually and in groups
- Monitoring classroom when teacher is otherwise occupied
- Performing clerical functions under the teacher’s direction
- Evaluating students’ work under the teacher’s direction
- Communicating effectively with patrons and students
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Skills in the use of computers
- Good interpersonal skills including the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to successfully complete the Substitute Orientation
- Conscientiously accept and follow directions
- Adaptability to a variety of situations
- Fundamental understanding of special education students
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

- Speaking, hearing, manual dexterity (coordination of eye/hand for such activities as typing, calculation, word processing, and other similar activities)

- May be required to provide physical assistance and personal care for students with a variety of disabilities
