Substitute Preschool Teacher

About the role

The Substitute Preschool Teacher supports early childhood education programs across the country, focusing on children aged 3 to 4 years old.

Responsibilities

• Follows the curriculum as scheduled during the time of coverage.
• Plans and implements learning experiences that advance the intellectual and physical development of children.
• Improves the readiness of children for school by developing their literacy and phonemic, print, and numeracy awareness.
• Develops children's understanding and use of language, vocabulary, and problem-solving abilities.
• Maintains a safe, healthy learning environment, including maintaining required adult-child ratios and proper supervision.
• Socially supports the emotional development of children and uses positive guidance approaches to manage challenging behaviors.
• Encourages the involvement of families in the Head Start program and fosters relationships between children and their families.
• Works effectively with other teachers in the assigned classroom and center.
• Fulfills all Acelero Learning policies and procedures related to health, safety, nutrition, and other aspects of center operations.
• Reports to work on time and communicates with the Center Director and Early Learning/Disabilities Specialist about any schedule changes.
• Participates in assigned meetings, events, and training as required.

Requirements

A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Physical exams and background checks are also required for this position.
