Substitute Custodian (School Year 26-27)

About the role

The Substitute Custodian performs general cleaning, maintenance, and groundskeeping in school buildings and grounds, ensuring safety and cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Clean classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and other areas
• Sweep, mop, and wax floors
• Clean furniture and windows
• Replace light bulbs
• Set up rooms for events and activities
• Remove snow and manage waste
• Perform repairs during school vacations
• Assist visitors and support school events
• Operate cleaning tools and safety equipment
• Follow safety protocols and handle chemicals per regulations

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Preferred experience in maintenance or custodial work
• Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation

Skills

• Follow work orders and instructions
• Communicate effectively in English
• Work collaboratively in a team
• Physical ability to work outdoors, at heights, and perform labor-intensive tasks

This is a non-exempt position and may involve occasional travel between school sites.
