Substitute Custodian

About the role

The Power of WE! is seeking a Substitute Custodian to join our team. This position is available Monday through Friday from 3:30 PM to 11:30 PM. The start date is ASAP and the work year is 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Performs custodial duties as assigned by the chief custodian or building administrator.
• Develops and implements custodial services to ensure clean, comfortable, healthy, safe, and attractive buildings for students, staff, and visitors.
• Cleans floors, walls, blinds, furniture, lavatories, classrooms, offices, hallways, common areas, locker rooms, lockers, shelves, fixtures, and glass surfaces.
• Maintains and performs minor repairs on furniture.
• Assists in the cafeteria area: cleans kitchen and cafeteria floors, removes filters in hoods for cleaning, cleans range hood, cleans bathrooms and locker rooms, cleans hand washing sinks, delivers government surplus supplies and frozen food cases to storage areas, empties trash in kitchen and cafeteria areas, mops up spills in cafeteria during lunch periods, assists in snow removal.
• Performs minor maintenance repairs to building facilities including replacing small window glass.
• Affords assistance in regular snow removal.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• Must be flexible for shift/schedule changes based on needs of the district.
• Must be able to lift, push, and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work in extreme temperatures and/or weather conditions.
• Must be able to perform repetitive stooping, twisting, and bending.
• Must have neat and clean appearance.
• Must be able to get along with adults and students.
• Must have good moral character, honesty, dependability, and courtesy.
• Must be able to inquire before taking action on items with which one is not familiar.
• Must be able to read, write, and communicate professionally and effectively with staff and students as needed.
• Valid driver's license preferred; must have reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• Satisfactory Criminal Background Check - must be less than 1 year old.
• DE Child Protection Registry Report - TB Test Results - must be less than 1 year old.
• Required to sign Social Security card and provide appropriate forms of identification.
• Mandatory Direct Deposit of paycheck.
