Substitute Bus Aide

Substitute position with variable daily hours (3–4 hrs/day) depending on assignment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and perform assigned duties
• High school diploma or equivalent certificate
• Minimum experience as determined by the board
• Knowledge of bus passenger safety and effective discipline procedures
• Required criminal history background check, Mantoux, physical, and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
• Ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform required duties

Responsibilities

• Assist the bus driver in maintaining student conduct on the bus
• Assist students, including those with disabilities and non-ambulatory students
• Provide written records of violations of student conduct code to the Transportation Coordinator
• Collect any personal items left on the bus and deliver them to the transportation office
• Provide instruction to students regarding passenger safety and ensure that students wear their seat belts
• Participate in scheduled emergency bus exit drills
• Check to ensure all student-passengers are dropped off at their correct location and that no passengers remain on the bus at the end of the route

Pay

$15.92 per hour
