Substitute, Athletic Trainer

About the role

This position functions as an integral member of the athletic health care team in the high school.

Responsibilities

• Works with individuals engaged in physical activity in the prevention of injuries and illnesses
• The recognition, evaluation, and immediate care of injuries and illnesses
• The rehabilitation and reconditioning of injuries and illnesses
• The administration of the health care system
• Ensures that the student-athlete is able to participate in practices and games following a sports-related injury
• Completes documentation on the prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of student-athletes
• Communicates with school administrators, coaches, and parents regarding a student-athlete's participation status
• Participates in annual OSHA training for blood borne pathogens

Requirements

• Current certification in CPR
• Qualified in first aid and blood borne pathogens

Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals engaged in physical activity
• Knowledge of injury prevention and management
• Ability to communicate effectively with school administrators, coaches, and parents
• Compliance with OSHA standards
