Substation Physical Engineering Associate I
About the role
This position is responsible for the design of deliverables associated with a high voltage substation. This typically includes, but is not limited to: general arrangement, section views, grounding, conduit layouts, bills of materials, and cable schedules, as well as construction turnover documentation.
Responsibilities
- Must be able to complete assignments within budget and schedule with a high degree of accuracy
- Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills, and the ability to convey technical knowledge in simple and practical language
- Works under the direction of Senior Engineers and Project Engineers
- Independently evaluates, selects and applies engineering principles and practices relevant to the project requirements
- Defines project objectives, prepares design estimates, and defines project requirements and design approaches for large or complex projects
- Determines design approach and works with design team to prepare required design documents (e.g., drawings, specifications, calculations, etc.)
- Conceptualizes the initial design approach for a major phase of a large project, or has overall responsibility for the engineering work on a routine project
- Performs technical and coordination checking of deliverables and other project documents. Ensures deliverables comply with IEEE and/or client standards and meet applicable design requirements.
Requirements
Must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in substation engineering is required. Proficiency in AutoCAD and other engineering software is essential. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Must have strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Qualifications
Must be licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of employment. Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills. Must be able to work flexible hours and travel as needed.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
