About the role

This position is responsible for the design of deliverables associated with a high voltage substation. This typically includes, but is not limited to: general arrangement, section views, grounding, conduit layouts, bills of materials, and cable schedules, as well as construction turnover documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to complete assignments within budget and schedule with a high degree of accuracy
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills, and the ability to convey technical knowledge in simple and practical language
  • Works under the direction of Senior Engineers and Project Engineers
  • Independently evaluates, selects and applies engineering principles and practices relevant to the project requirements
  • Defines project objectives, prepares design estimates, and defines project requirements and design approaches for large or complex projects
  • Determines design approach and works with design team to prepare required design documents (e.g., drawings, specifications, calculations, etc.)
  • Conceptualizes the initial design approach for a major phase of a large project, or has overall responsibility for the engineering work on a routine project
  • Performs technical and coordination checking of deliverables and other project documents. Ensures deliverables comply with IEEE and/or client standards and meet applicable design requirements.

Requirements

Must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in substation engineering is required. Must be proficient in AutoCAD and other engineering software. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Must have strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Must be able to work flexible hours and travel as needed.

Pay

$80,000 - $100,000 annually

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work as needed.
