Location: Project-based with multiple sites; onsite at substations (specific locations provided). This is a 1-year W-2 contract assignment.

About the role

We are seeking a Substation Commissioning Manager of Renewable Energy to work on behalf of the project Owner, managing commissioning, start-up, and operational turnover for a portfolio of renewable energy projects (wind, solar, battery storage). This role ensures high-quality execution of commissioning activities while adhering to all safety policies and project contractual requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure commissioning activities for assigned projects are performed with high quality and adherence to all safety policies.
  • Coordinate and manage EPC contractor personnel, OEM start-up personnel, third-party start-up contractors, and operations personnel on-site for commissioning and start-up.
  • Ensure project reliability at operational turnover, minimizing lost time during initial operation.
  • Maintain compliance with project contractual documents, including Power Purchase Agreements and Large Generator Interconnect Agreements with local utilities.
  • Interface with Transmission Operators and Independent Service Operators to meet project energization dates.
  • Manage the client’s onsite commissioning personnel.
  • Collaborate with project safety, engineering, and quality control teams.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of on-site project support for renewable power generation project construction, start-up, and commissioning.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working for an EPC in renewable power generation project construction, start-up, and commissioning.
  • Strong commitment to quality, execution, and safety.

Skills

  • Electrical construction and commissioning knowledge, including NEC and NFPA standards.
  • Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) integration and troubleshooting.
  • E&I controls and instrumentation installation, start-up, and troubleshooting.
  • Protection and Controls implementation and troubleshooting.
  • Drawing review and quality control inspection.
  • Progress reporting and schedule planning.
  • Management of third parties, suppliers, and direct report team members.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $114.00/hr. to $119.00/hr., dependent on experience, qualifications, and skills.
