About the role
This is a 1-year W-2 contract assignment for a Substation Commissioning Manager of Renewable Energy, working on behalf of the project Owner. The role is project-based with multiple onsite substation locations, focusing on commissioning, start-up, and operational turnover for a portfolio of renewable energy projects (wind, solar, battery storage).
Responsibilities
- Ensure commissioning activities for assigned projects are performed with high quality and adhere to all safety policies.
- Coordinate and manage EPC contractor personnel, OEM start-up personnel, third-party start-up contractors, and operations personnel on-site for commissioning and start-up.
- Ensure project reliability at operational turnover with minimal lost time in initial operation.
- Ensure compliance with all project contractual documents, including Power Purchase Agreement and Large Generator Interconnect Agreement deliverables with the local utility.
- Interface with Transmission Operators and Independent Service Operators to achieve project energization dates.
- Manage the Client’s onsite commissioning personnel.
- Interface with project’s designated safety, engineering, and quality control parties.
- Conduct drawing review quality control inspections.
- Provide progress reporting.
- Manage third parties, suppliers, and direct report team members.
- Demonstrate understanding of schedule and planning.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of on-site project support for renewable power generation project construction, start-up, and commissioning.
- 3+ years of experience working for an EPC in renewable power generation project construction, start-up, and commissioning.
- High drive for quality, execution, and safety.
Skills
- Electrical construction and commissioning means and methods, including NEC and NFPA.
- Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) integration and troubleshooting.
- E&I controls and instrumentation installation, start-up, and troubleshooting.
- Protection and Controls implementation and troubleshooting.

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $114.00/hr. to $119.00/hr., dependent on experience, qualifications, and skills.
