Substance Use Disorder Counselor

Responsibilities
- Manage an assigned caseload of clients receiving substance use and co-occurring mental health services through in-person and, when appropriate, virtual appointments.
- Complete comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, clinical interviews, and screening tools to evaluate client needs, strengths, and treatment recommendations.
- Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized treatment and recovery plans in collaboration with clients, incorporating measurable goals and evidence-based interventions.
- Provide individual counseling focused on recovery, relapse prevention, coping skills, behavior change, and long-term wellness.
- Facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic group counseling sessions that promote recovery, life skills, relapse prevention, emotional regulation, and peer support.
- Maintain ongoing communication regarding recovery progress and monitor client progress toward treatment goals, adjusting interventions as needed.
- Coordinate care with an interdisciplinary treatment team, including medical providers, case managers, peer support specialists, and community partners to ensure comprehensive, client-centered care.
- Advocate for clients by connecting them with community resources, recovery supports, housing, employment services, and other appropriate referrals.
- Respond appropriately to client crises by conducting risk assessments, implementing de-escalation techniques, and coordinating emergency interventions when necessary.
- Complete timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other required records.
- Maintain client confidentiality and provide services in accordance with ethical standards, agency policies, and all applicable state and federal regulations.
Requirements
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED and be certified or registered as a Substance Use Disorder Professional by the Missouri Credentialing Board, Inc. as either a CADC, CRADC, is required.
- Preference given to those with a Master’s Degree in a social science field with a provisional or clinical license in the State of Missouri.
- Ability to work a consistent schedule of 7:00 am – 4:00 pm Monday–Friday, with rotating Saturday shifts from 7:30 am – 11:00 am. Clinic also has open hours on Saturday from 7:30 am – 11 AM. Saturdays are rotated, and candidates would be expected to work one (1) Saturday per month.

Schedule
Full-time position, consisting of a regular schedule, Monday – Friday from 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Clinic also has open hours on Saturday from 7:30 AM – 11 AM. Saturdays are rotated, and candidates would be expected to work one (1) Saturday per month.
