About the role
The Substance Abuse Counselor works as part of a multi-disciplinary PACT team and provides community-based treatment and skills training to persons with serious mental illness. They are responsible for providing and coordinating MICA services for consumers.
Responsibilities
- Provides individual, group, and family therapy sessions
- Assesses client needs and develops treatment plans
- Coordinates care with other healthcare providers
- Trains clients in coping skills and recovery techniques
- Mentors and supervises interns and trainees
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a behavioral health field and a minimum of two years working with the co-occurring mentally ill and substance abuse population
- CADC or LCADC licensure required
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving history
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness and substance abuse disorders
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices in substance abuse and mental health treatment
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in computer software for documentation and scheduling

$52,000 - $55,000 per year plus Sign On Bonus of $3,000
