About the role

The Substance Abuse Counselor works as part of a multi-disciplinary PACT team and provides community-based treatment and skills training to persons with serious mental illness. They are responsible for providing and coordinating MICA services for consumers.

Responsibilities

• Provides individual, group, and family therapy sessions
• Assesses client needs and develops treatment plans
• Coordinates care with other healthcare providers
• Trains clients in coping skills and recovery techniques
• Mentors and supervises interns and trainees

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a behavioral health field and a minimum of two years working with the co-occurring mentally ill and substance abuse population
• CADC or LCADC licensure required
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving history

Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness and substance abuse disorders
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices in substance abuse and mental health treatment

Skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in computer software for documentation and scheduling

Pay

$52,000 - $55,000 per year plus Sign On Bonus of $3,000
