Salary range: $46,607.70 to $89,127.49. Extended time before and/or after the school year or day may be required and will be compensated at the hourly extended time rate. This is a State Teachers Retirement System position and part of the AEA collective bargaining unit.
Qualifications
- Valid Ohio teaching certification/licensure in one of the following:
- 4-9 ELA
- 1-8 teaching certificate plus TESOL endorsement
- Minimum two years’ teaching experience
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to participate in staff and curriculum development
- Use data to make decisions regarding curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- Interact with the school, partners, and community to enhance student learning
- Work in teams and participate in professional learning communities
Responsibilities
- Screen new students using OELPS for EL services
- Provide parent notifications of EL services in multiple languages for initial or continuous services
- Assist all students to meet or exceed 21st-century knowledge and skills, including state academic achievement standards
- Articulate what students should know and be able to do; guide the learning process toward curriculum goals
- Establish clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects; communicate these objectives to students
- Plan and deliver learning experiences that advance each student’s learning; provide written evidence of preparation upon request
- Partner with business and community organizations to create authentic learning experiences
- Develop reasonable expectations for classroom procedures and positive outcomes
- Attend staff meetings, serve on committees, and engage in team-building activities as required
- Collaboratively lead the school through a shared decision-making process with the building principal
- Design authentic learning experiences for core knowledge, 21st-century skills, and literacies through collaboration, problem-based learning, and inquiry
- Organize and plan learning based on subject matter, students, community, and curriculum goals
- Assist in planning intervention and remediation for students who have not mastered content standards
- Develop and implement differentiated instructional strategies for each student’s academic growth
- Use technology to develop student content knowledge and skills, including critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, innovation, and collaboration
- Use technology as an instructional, management, grading, and parent communication tool
- Use continuous, authentic, and evidence-based assessment measures to improve instruction and student learning
- Be flexible, resourceful, and innovative in managing learning experiences
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, engagement, self-motivation, and positive social interaction
- Provide learning opportunities supporting intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development
- Conduct OELPA testing and work with translators for day and evening programming and family events
- Guide students and parents through school and future education and career choices
- Participate in ongoing professional development, including Professional Learning Communities (PLC)
- Maintain and improve professional competence; model teaching expectations
- Use evidence-based and best practices to inform instruction and collaborate with colleagues
- Work collaboratively to improve instruction and learning while sharing responsibility for outcomes
- Create positive working relationships with students to maximize opportunities for success
- Carry out any other responsibilities assigned by the building principal
