About the Role

Under direct supervision, the incumbent conducts standardized language acquisition assessments for listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills with students. The role also involves assisting teachers in a classroom environment by providing materials, working with students individually or in groups on special projects or assignments, and supporting language development and other educational activities.

Responsibilities

• Conducts standardized English language proficiency assessments for reading, writing, listening, and speaking at assigned schools.
• Reads assessment prompts and records student verbal responses.
• Pre-scores and records proficiency tests using scoring rubrics.
• Maintains a testing log for record-keeping and data on assessment administration and scoring.
• Records testing dates on test booklets and in an electronic database.
• Submits pre-score reports and test booklets to certified staff for review and dissemination.
• Works with students individually or in groups on special projects or assignments, including reading, mathematics, language development, and memorization of emergency information.
• Demonstrates skills and techniques to aid in student learning.
• Coordinates testing schedules and materials with the Program Instructional Coach.
• Prepares rooms for testing, including setting up tables and chairs, distributing materials, and performing cleanup afterward.
• Assists teachers in planning and coordinating lesson plans by sharing ideas and providing feedback about students.
• Ensures compliance with State and Federal laws for English Learners, including file audits, testing, and small group instruction.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (G.E.D.).
• Proficient fluency in the English language.
• Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of experience working with children.
• Valid first aid certification.
