Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Participates in rapid prototyping for the design process for drones
- Makes recommendations for modification during the design process based on feedback from previous testing results to meet desired specifications.
- Performs assembly of mechanical and electrical drones, integration and test, and buildup of assemblies & subassemblies
- Uses a variety of machine shop tools and other items including CNC mills, 3D printers, etc.
- Documents processes and build techniques
- Provides technical support to stakeholders and troubleshoots issues
- Participates in testing, data collection and analysis
- Prepares reports for leadership discussions on the process and recommends process improvement
- May assist operations and training team with curriculum and training demonstrations
- Travel for field testing and/or project meetings
- May pilot drone following a specific flight plan or obtaining useful footage
Required Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2-5 years of related experience
- Mission Planner, Q Ground Control, PX4 and Ardupilot experience
- Ability to obtain interim Secret clearance within 6 months of hire; US Citizenship required
- Willing and able to travel with UAS Operations and Training teams up to 10% (as needed)
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience operating within a DoD environment
- Familiarity with mechanical systems and parts compliance requirements
- Experience with sUAS design, prototyping, and assembly is a plus
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematic blueprints
