Stylist

As a Stylist, you will engage with guests, consult on their hair care needs, and deliver quality professional services with an emphasis on their total look. This role supports the Experience Manager (EM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) through a focus on performance, guest service, and operational compliance.
Responsibilities
- Perform hair services including hair design, haircuts, color, texture, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
- Meet or exceed sales goals of $800 average weekly sales and productivity targets for hair services by delivering exceptional guest service.
- Contribute to store goals for retail and service sales, guest loyalty (including credit), and retail shrink.
- Demonstrate business acumen by identifying growth opportunities and staying informed about industry trends, products, and services.
- Perform product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance the guest experience.
- Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives that deliver an unrivaled guest experience.
- Develop guest relationships through consultations and tailored retail/service recommendations.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and salon image, serving all guests—including walk-ins—in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with skin therapists and the retail team to provide a cohesive, total-store guest experience.
- Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
- Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for continuous professional development.
- Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and state board guidelines for safety, sanitation, and infection control.
- Follow established service protocols to ensure a consistent and exceptional guest experience.
- Utilize booking and clientele systems to schedule return services and events.
- Communicate supply needs to the EM to maintain guest readiness.
- Maintain cleanliness and operational standards in the salon, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, break area, and assigned areas.
- Adhere to the Ulta Beauty dress code and loss prevention best practices.
- Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
Requirements
- Cosmetology license.
- Previous relevant salon experience preferred.
Skills
- Proficiency in latest salon techniques for haircutting, haircolor, lightening, styling, texture, treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (where applicable).
- Aptitude to develop skills in all service categories.
- Proficiency with salon equipment and chemicals.
- Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell pro hair care and makeup products.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and clientele.
Special Position Requirements
- Work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Working Conditions
- Frequent mobility during shift.
- Continuous lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs.
- Frequent stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching, twisting, and crouching.
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Continuous and/or frequent coordination and manipulation of objects.
Pay
The pay range for this position is the higher of $16.00 - $16.80 per hour or services pay for the workweek under the Company’s Services Compensation Plan. Exact pay is based on factors including education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business needs. Eligible associates may also earn overtime pay and tips from service guests.
