Stylist

About the role

Experience a perfect blend of deliberate purpose and clear-eyed vision at Ulta Beauty. As a Stylist, you’ll engage with guests, consult on their hair care needs, and deliver quality professional services with an emphasis on the guest’s total look. You’ll support the Experience Manager (EM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) through a focus on performance, guest service, and operational compliance. This role requires a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform hair services including hair design, haircuts, color, texture, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Meet or exceed sales goals of $800 average weekly sales and productivity goals for hair services by delivering exceptional guest service.
• Contribute to store goals for retail and service sales, guest loyalty (including credit), and retail shrink.
• Demonstrate business acumen by understanding business drivers and identifying growth opportunities.
• Perform product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance the guest service experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to deliver an unrivaled guest experience.
• Stay informed about new and existing industry trends, products, and services during work time.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
• Develop guest relationships through consultations and appropriate retail/service recommendations.
• Demonstrate high standards of customer service and salon image.
• Serve all guests, including walk-ins, in a timely and efficient manner.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and the retail team to provide a well-rounded guest experience.
• Share the benefits of the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for continuous professional development.
• Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow all safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures before, during, and after services, adhering to state board guidelines.
• Utilize booking and clientele systems to schedule return services and events.
• Communicate supply needs to the EM to ensure guest readiness.
• Maintain cleanliness of the salon, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, break area, and assigned areas.
• Adhere to the Ulta Beauty dress code and follow loss prevention best practices.

Requirements

• Cosmetology license.
• Previous relevant salon experience is preferred.
• Proficiency with latest salon techniques for haircutting, haircolor, styling, texture, treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Ability to use salon equipment and chemicals safely and effectively.
• Proficiency in demonstrating, recommending, and selling pro hair care and makeup products.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and clientele.
• Work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $18.00 per hour, with the opportunity for eligible associates to earn services pay pursuant to the Company’s Services Compensation Plan. Exact pay will be based on factors including education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business needs. Eligible associates may also earn overtime pay as required by applicable law and tips paid by service guests.
