As a Stylist, you’ll engage with guests, consult on their hair care needs, and deliver quality professional services while supporting store leadership in performance, guest service, and operational standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform hair services including haircuts, color, texture treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Meet or exceed sales goals of $800 average weekly sales and productivity targets by delivering exceptional guest service, contributing to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink goals.
• Demonstrate business acumen by identifying growth opportunities and staying informed about industry trends, products, and services during work time.
• Perform product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance the guest experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to deliver an unrivaled guest experience.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
• Develop guest relationships through consultations and tailored retail/service recommendations.
• Uphold high standards of customer service and salon image, serving all guests—including walk-ins—in a timely and efficient manner.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and the retail team to provide a seamless, total-store guest experience.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app, both in the salon and on the salesfloor.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for continuous professional development.
• Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and standards, including safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols before, during, and after services.
• Follow state board guidelines and established service protocols to ensure a consistent and exceptional guest experience.
• Utilize booking and clientele systems to schedule return services and events.
• Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager to maintain guest readiness.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards in the salon, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, break area, and other assigned areas.
• Adhere to the Ulta Beauty dress code and loss prevention best practices.
• Protect company assets by providing exceptional guest service and executing additional operational tasks as directed.

Requirements

• Cosmetology license.
• Previous relevant salon experience preferred.
• Proficiency with latest salon techniques for haircutting, haircolor, lightening, styling, texture treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (where applicable), or an aptitude to develop these skills.
• Proficiency with salon equipment and chemicals.
• Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and clientele.
• Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions

• Frequent mobility during shift.
• Continuous lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs.
• Frequent stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching, twisting, and crouching.
• Ability to stand for long periods during shift.
• Continuous and/or frequent coordination and manipulation of objects.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $17.00/hour, with additional opportunities for eligible associates to earn services pay under the Company’s Services Compensation Plan. Exact pay is based on factors including education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business needs. Eligible associates may also earn overtime pay as required by law and tips from service guests.
