General Summary & Scope

The Stylist engages with guests to consult on hair care needs, recommend products and services, and deliver quality professional services. They support the Experience Manager (EM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) by focusing on performance, guest service, and operational compliance. This role requires a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform hair services including haircuts, color, texture treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Meet or exceed sales goals of $800 average weekly sales and productivity targets for hair services by delivering exceptional guest service.
• Contribute to store goals for retail and service sales, guest loyalty (including credit), and retail shrink.
• Demonstrate business acumen by understanding key business drivers and identifying growth opportunities.
• Conduct product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance the guest service experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to deliver an unrivaled guest experience.
• Stay informed about new and existing industry trends, products, and services, including their ingredients and benefits.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
• Develop guest relationships through consultations and tailored retail/service recommendations.
• Uphold high standards of customer service and salon image.
• Serve all guests, including walk-ins, in a timely and efficient manner.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and the retail team to provide a holistic guest experience.
• Build professional relationships with peers and brand partners to enhance guest service.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for continuous professional development.
• Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures in accordance with state board guidelines.
• Adhere to established service protocols for a consistent guest experience.
• Utilize booking and clientele systems to schedule return services and events.
• Communicate supply needs to the EM to maintain guest readiness.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards in the salon, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, break area, and assigned areas.
• Follow the Ulta Beauty dress code and loss prevention best practices.
• Protect company assets by providing exceptional guest service.
• Perform other operational tasks as directed.

Requirements

• Cosmetology license.
• Previous relevant salon experience is preferred.

Skills

• Proficiency in latest salon techniques for haircutting, coloring, styling, texture treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Aptitude to develop skills in all service categories.
• Proficiency with salon equipment and chemicals.
• Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell pro hair care and makeup products.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and clientele.

Special Position Requirements

• Work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions

• Frequent mobility during shift.
• Continuous lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs.
• Frequent stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching, twisting, and crouching.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects.

Pay

The pay range for this position is the higher of $15.00 - $19.00 per hour or services pay for the workweek pursuant to the Company’s Services Compensation Plan. Exact pay is based on factors including education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business needs. Eligible associates may also earn overtime pay as required by law and tips from service guests.
