Student Worker - Safety & Security

Student worker position on the Main Campus (1845 Loop Drive, Bowling Green, KY 42101) for the academic year August 2026 – May 2027. Pay is $14.00/hour with a maximum of 16 hours per week. Employment is contingent on dependability, punctuality, and confidentiality.

About the role

Provide security support by handling communications, monitoring campus activity, managing lost and found items, issuing keys, and maintaining accurate daily logs.

Responsibilities

• Answer calls on the security cell phone.
• Relay requests to security officers via radio.
• Log officer activity into the daily log.
• Serve as the point of contact for the main campus lost-and-found:
  • Move lost-and-found items to the security office.
  • Log each lost-and-found item.
  • Secure lost items.
• Issue keys to employees from the outgoing key box.
• Monitor security cameras on each campus.

Requirements

• Declared program of study at Southcentral KY Community & Technical College.
• Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for the Fall and Spring semesters.
• Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA.
• Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and Maximum Time Frame (MTF) requirements each semester.
• Completed FAFSA on file with sufficient financial-aid budget for a work-study award.
• Pass state and national pre-employment background checks as required by Kentucky State Law.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
• Basic knowledge of Excel.
• Good communication skills, both in person and on radio frequency.
• Prior experience in call-center work or dispatching.

Pay
