Student Wholeness Specialist (26-27)

About the role

The Student Wholeness Specialist is a key member of the school's SEL team, responsible for implementing and managing student wholeness rooms. These rooms serve as calming spaces where students can develop social and emotional learning skills, improving their academic performance and overall well-being.

Responsibilities

• Supports SEL by building relationships with students, assessing their needs, and providing appropriate support.
• Aids students in managing their behavior, offering tools and skills for self-calming.
• Assists students in transitioning back to classrooms after using the student wholeness room.
• Cultivates school culture and climate by participating in new and transfer student orientations and other events.
• Collaborates with teachers to coordinate missed assignments and integrate effective behavior management strategies.
• Maintains the student wholeness room, ensuring it remains neat and orderly.
• Manages data collection and reporting to support school-wide SEL initiatives.
• Participates in various meetings and professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices.
• Works closely with school leadership, counselors, and mental health support staff to ensure comprehensive student support.
• Coordinates with parents and community partners to connect students with additional resources for social and emotional well-being.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in education or social service field.
• One year of related experience may substitute for one year of required education.
• Ability to assess student social and emotional well-being and refer students to appropriate staff or services.
• Ability to maintain a calm presence in stressful situations.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in computer applications and willingness to learn new skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field of study preferred.
• Full-time or part-time position.
