- Current District 117 High School Student
- Patience, dependability, flexibility and perseverance
- Acceptance of diverse learning styles and needs
- Ability to manage time, display strong organizational skills, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Show reliability and the ability to work as part of a team
- Sensitivity to cultural differences
- Willing to volunteer on a consistent basis
- Strong reading and writing skills
- Strong math skills
- Strong communication skills
Job Responsibilities
- Assist student within the school setting—behaviorally, emotionally and academically
- Assist students with assignments and activities as provided by the teacher(s)
- Provide assistance and targeted support, without distraction
- Actively supervise when not in an academic setting (break, recess, bussing)
- Enforce school wide expectations
- Be a smiling face and a positive interaction for our students
- Be a team player
- Cleaning of classroom surfaces/toys
- Refer to student plans to best assist students and understand their needs
- Communicate with teachers about the specifics of the students you are working with
- Report student safety concerns
- Carry out miscellaneous support tasks as assigned
