About the role
The Student Support Specialist I (Dual Credit Navigator) will provide admissions information to prospective students, facilitate communication between the college and prospective students, conduct community outreach, and offer academic and career counseling. This position serves the Knott, Leslie, Breathitt, and Lee County Area Technology Centers.
Responsibilities
- Provide admissions and academic counseling for dual-enrolled high school students and prospective students visiting dual credit hubs at area high schools.
- Advise new students on academic processes and provide generalized direction to enhance academic success.
- Assist in advising dual credit students at high schools and local Area Technology Centers (ATC).
- Support implementation of pathways, course requests, and adjunct faculty communication at assigned area high schools.
- Conduct outreach to high schools, middle schools, community agencies, and employers to recruit students to the college; attend high school orientation days and recruiting events.
- Register new and returning students and provide orientation support for online services including Blackboard, student portals, and student records.
- Maintain student data entry and required data reporting.
- Assist Admission personnel with enrollment events and registration.
- Coordinate academic advising appointments for dual credit students at the beginning of each semester; assist students with FAFSA forms and scholarships.
- Connect dual credit students with tutoring opportunities, success coaches, and HCTC services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with one year of relevant experience, or equivalent.

Pay
$31,680 annually; may be higher with additional education or experience.
