The Student Support Specialist

Pay Range: Targeted salary of $12/hour, based on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive inventory management
  • Handling deliveries
  • Scanning equipment into tracking systems
  • Organizing replacement cycles for faculty and staff
  • Maintaining detailed asset assignment records in Excel
  • Coordination with administrative departments for new hire equipment location
  • Arranging delivery of technology assets across campus
  • Maintaining thorough documentation of all deliveries, including location information and photographic confirmation
  • Maintaining equipment readiness by rebuilding and refurbishing computers
  • Focusing on preparing backup units and loaners for departmental needs and events
  • Providing some first-level technical support to faculty and staff, troubleshooting hardware and software issues while escalating complex problems to senior technicians when necessary
  • Providing basic technical support for printers, software, and computer configurations within account permission levels
  • Assisting with lab updates and network connectivity audits
  • Evaluating assets for potential reuse, recommending serviceable equipment for introduction while ensuring damaged items are properly processed for parts salvaging or disposal
  • Managing surplus operations of various scales, from routine small collections to large departmental projects exceeding 250 items

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in the Fall 2026 Term as an undergraduate student in good standing at the University of Oklahoma.
  • Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

Qualifications

  • Experience with asset tracking tools and inventory databases
  • Proficiency in maintaining detailed records, using formulas, and managing spreadsheets
  • Skills in rebuilding, imaging, and preparing computers for deployment
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware/software issues and escalate when needed
  • Familiarity with basic printer maintenance and configuration
  • Understanding of standard software setups and user permissions
  • Basic knowledge of network diagnostics and connectivity check
