Student Support Specialist

MISTAFF is a collaborative effort of the Michigan Association of Intermediate School Administrators, Michigan Association of Superintendents & Administrators, Michigan Association of School Boards, Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals, Michigan Elementary and Middle School Principals Association, and Michigan School Public Relations Association.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to join our team in a K-12 alternative certification program. This role is designed for individuals who are committed to making a difference in the lives of students and are looking to transition into a teaching career through an alternative certification pathway.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student engagement and success.
• Assess student progress and provide feedback to support academic growth.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administrators to support student learning and well-being.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
• Adhere to state and district policies, as well as alternative certification program requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Strong commitment to pursuing a career in education.
• Eligibility to enroll in a Michigan-approved alternative certification program.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and families from diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with K-12 students (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or other educational settings) is preferred but not required.
• Demonstrated passion for education and a desire to positively impact student lives.
• Flexibility, adaptability, and a growth mindset.
