STUDENT SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Position Summary

We are seeking staff to work with at-risk youth. We take pride in our structured program that focuses on changing a client's behaviors, thinking patterns, and values. Our program primarily focuses on implementing behavioral changes to assist with a successful reintegration into the home, family, and community.

Job Duties / Essential Functions

• Absorb in classroom routines including daily expectations and education related support while ensuring a safe learning environment.
• Assigned to float in residential houses before and after school hours within a daily shift.
• Act as building floater in halls, bathrooms and playgrounds to ensure safe learning environment.
• Perform restraints as necessary when ordered by a licensed professional using the current approved KidsPeace restraint methodology on youth who may weigh in excess of 250 pounds and who are verbally or physically threatening or otherwise presenting a threat to themselves or others.
• Transport students to place of residence and report behavior to relevant person, as necessary.
• Provide crisis intervention to KidsPeace students, complete reporting and record keeping.
• Attend to the behavioral and emotional needs of the student.

Qualifications (Education, Training And Experiences)

• Experience with social and emotionally challenged children or adolescents preferred.
• Must possess basic personal computer knowledge and skills.
• Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
• Valid driver's license required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Mental Heath or related field preferred.

Compensation

$17.50 - $18.50 hourly
