Student Support Facilitator
UNC Greensboro, located in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina, is one of 57 doctoral institutions recognized by the Carnegie Foundation for both higher research activity and community engagement. The university supports students with intellectual and developmental disabilities through a Comprehensive Transition and Postsecondary Education (CTPE) program while enrolled in Integrative Community Studies, a four-year certificate program.
About the role
This temporary position provides one-on-one (peer-to-peer) student support for 15 hours per week, plus 5 hours of administrative support and/or planning/scheduling. The role works directly with students (with intellectual disabilities) enrolled in the Integrative Community Studies (ICS)/Beyond Academics Certificate program. Examples of support include academic, social skills, and/or living skills support.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 academic support to students with intellectual disabilities
- Assist with social skills development
- Support living skills training
- Perform administrative tasks and planning/scheduling (5 hours per week)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in progress in a related field (social/human services, education, etc.)
- Mentoring or tutoring experience
Pay
$15 per hour
Schedule
- 20 hours per week (15 hours direct student support, 5 hours administrative/planning)
- Temporary, non-exempt position
- 0.500 FTE
