About the role
The Student Success Coach II coaches and advises UT San Antonio students from the lead phase through to successful graduation. This position handles inquiries arriving via various channels, such as online, phone, mail, email and in-person. The role solves complex problems and takes a new perspective using existing solutions, working independently with minimal guidance.
Core Responsibilities
- Nurture leads and prospects by considering the whole student—finances, family and community, career goals, commitments and more—to ensure well-qualified individuals complete their application and successfully matriculate.
- Coach prospects and enrolled students to improve enrollment, persistence, completion, and career readiness.
- Interpret, formulate, and evaluate institutional rules for students and facilitate the exchange of academic advising information by participating in the delivery of academic advising services.
- Assist and support the supervisor in organization, delivery, and assessment of the assigned area; serve as a lead by providing training, guidance, and indirect supervision.
- Manage and maintain regular contact with prospects and leads for online programs throughout each application cycle to nurture interest and remove barriers to successful application.
- Manage incomplete applications and coach applicants to facilitate maximum completed application yield.
- Update management with regular data reporting on prospects, applicants, and enrolled students.
- Advise students remotely using telephone, email, video chat and other tools regarding core, major, support work, graduation, and university requirements, keeping accurate records of student advising contacts and progress toward a degree.
- Monitor student academic progress, communicating with each student regularly on a personalized basis; intervene as necessary to assist those having difficulty.
- Process degree plans, register students and verify requirements using Student Information Systems.
- Serve as a coach to prospects and students to aid in their development of the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and beliefs they need to succeed in college and their careers.
- Provide individualized career coaching to undergraduate business students, including career exploration, internship and job search strategies, resume and cover letter reviews, interview preparation, networking strategies, LinkedIn optimization, and graduate school planning.
- Design, facilitate, and assess workshops and professional development programming focused on career readiness and professional development.
- Participate in regular training and professional development to maintain and increase skill set.
- Develop and implement departmental projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- One year of related work experience.
- This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.

Physical Demands
- Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- This position will work primarily on campus.
- Travel and parking expenses are the employee’s responsibility.
This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver’s license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
Salary Range: $53,196 annualized.
