About the role
The Student Success Coach plays a crucial role in supporting undergraduate students at National Louis University, focusing on student transitions, persistence, and career readiness.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct academic advising and coaching support to a caseload of approximately 125 undergraduate students.
- Ensure students meet academic milestones and degree requirements, including course registration and degree plan modifications.
- Guide students in major selection and career exploration, and help build their self-advocacy skills.
- Use in-person and technology-based methods to stay in close communication with students, employing developmental and intrusive advising practices and motivational interviewing.
- Maintain accurate and timely student records in platforms like BANNER, EAB, and Smartsheets.
- Build collaborative relationships with departments, faculty, and career development staff to enhance the student experience.
- Attend and contribute to meetings and events such as Student Success Collaboration, Career Success Team, Summer Melt, Y1 Majors Exploration Day, Flight Night, Y2-Y3 Registration and Transition events, and more.
- Work with the Director of Student Success and Manager of Student Success to maintain and revise the student support model and wraparound resources.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or a closely related field.
- Two to four (2-4) years professional experience in advising, teaching, counseling, social work, or related fields.
- One to three (1-3) years teaching or staff experience at the high school or college level.
- One to three (1-3) years experience working with a diverse student population.
