About the role
The Student Support Assistant (SSA) supports the academic, behavioral, and physical needs of students in alignment with OneSchool Global’s ethos, Learning to Learn (L2L) Framework, and Educator Personas. Working under the general supervision of the Campus Principal and the immediate direction of a certified teacher, the SSA serves as a coach, connector, and facilitator of learning, helping students build independence, confidence, and effective learning habits.
Responsibilities
- Supports the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and inclusive learning practices.
- Promotes student self-directed learning by helping learners develop time-management skills, task-breakdown strategies, and effective study habits.
- Creates supportive, structured environments that allow students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
- Build positive, supportive relationships with students to promote engagement, accountability, and resilience.
- Support students with time management, organization, task breakdown, and effective study habits aligned to the learning framework.
- Assists students in breaking down complex or multi-step tasks into manageable steps.
- Conducts instructional exercises and reinforces learning tasks as assigned.
- Assist students in accessing learning by adapting materials as needed, including transferring online tasks to paper-based formats.
- Provide instructional support under the supervision of a certified or highly qualified teacher, including reinforcing learning tasks and implementing IEP accommodations.
- Promote positive behavior, self-regulation, and a growth mindset using approved campus strategies.
- Support students throughout the school day, including classrooms, Learning Centers, and common areas.
- Communicate effectively with teachers.
Requirements
- You must be living in the USA and authorized to work here.
- A high school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework or post-secondary in education or special education preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with physical disabilities and health concerns.
- Familiarity with augmented communication devices is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and transferring.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting the student's educational and personal development.
Qualifications
