About the role

The Student Success Advocate is responsible for providing support and guidance to students who are at risk of school failure. The role involves working directly with students in an instructional capacity, helping to resolve attendance, academic, and behavioral issues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic and behavioral support to students identified as at-risk of school failure.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other school staff to develop and implement interventions.
  • Assist with maintaining student attendance and academic progress.
  • Conduct regular meetings with students, parents, and teachers to monitor progress and address concerns.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • Education and Training: High school graduation or equivalent, with a minimum of 48 credits from an accredited college or university in related fields.
  • Experience: Two years of coursework or one year of experience in schools or community settings working with at-risk students.
  • Qualifications: Must meet the federal No Child Left Behind Act's definition of "Highly Qualified," which includes a minimum of 48 credits from an accredited college or university or a passing score on the ETS para-pro assessment.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license, CPR/AED certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or similar organization.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Two years of coursework or one year of experience in schools or community settings working with at-risk students.
  • Training: Completion of relevant coursework and/or certification in CPR/AED.

Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of educational strategies and interventions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
