About the role
The Student Success Advocate is responsible for providing support to students who are at risk of school failure. They assist with intervention and resolution of difficulties involving student attendance, academic, and behavioral issues.
Responsibilities
- Provide academic and behavioral support to students identified as at-risk of school failure.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other school staff to develop and implement strategies to improve student performance.
- Coordinate with external agencies to provide additional resources and services to students and families.
- Monitor student progress and communicate regularly with teachers and parents regarding student performance and needs.
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge in student support and advocacy.
Requirements
- Education and Training: High school graduation or equivalent, plus two years of course work from an accredited college or university in related fields, or five years of experience in schools or community settings working with at-risk students.
- Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license, CPR/AED certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or similar organization.
Qualifications
- Employees in Title I Schools must meet the Highly Qualified status as defined by the federal No Child Left Behind Act.
- Must have a minimum of 48 credits hours from an accredited college or university or a passing score on the ETS para-pro assessment.
Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of educational policies and procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
