Position Summary
This is a grant-funded position responsible for tracking and assisting students through the Nash GRAD Program, from pre-enrollment to completion. The role involves connecting students to internal and external resources, wraparound services, and high-touch advising to support persistence and graduation.
Essential Job Functions/Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Builds relationships with students to help them achieve their goals and align them with career pathways leading to post-secondary credentials valued in the labor market.
- Reviews student progress and tracks their use of academic support services to ensure post-secondary success.
- Affords students assistance in identifying potential obstacles to success and connects them to relevant assistance and resources.
- Collaborates with faculty, college staff, and MNPS faculty to address and resolve student success issues.
- Maintains accurate tracking data and notes for each student, making recommendations for appropriate referrals and opportunity programs.
- Supports the recruitment of new students.
- Creates and conducts training sessions/workshops for students, faculty, and staff to enhance student success.
- Participates in various institutional retention activities and new student orientation and first-year experience events.
- Utilizes an SIS student records system and functions within a computerized office environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Two years’ experience working in a higher education setting with a varied student body
- Preferred: Master’s degree from an accredited institution
- Prior work experience at a community college
- Prior academic advising or student success coaching experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual fluency in English and Arabic or Spanish
