Student Security Officer- FLOAT POSITION

About the role

To work alongside the Student Security Coordinator and school level administrators to provide a safe and secure campus in Hamilton County Schools, located in Chattanooga, TN. With nearly 75 schools, we are committed to excellence for every student and seek team members who desire to make a difference in students' lives.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the assigned campus both inside the buildings and the perimeter.
• Be highly visible on campus with a focus on before and after school and at lunch.
• Maintain external security of the buildings.
• Make recommendations to correct identified security issues on campus.
• Observe arrival and departure of students.
• Ensure that no unauthorized individuals gain access to the campus.
• Work with the staff to intervene in situations that can cause disruptions of the learning environment.
• Monitor video surveillance at the school.
• Become a part of the school threat assessment team.
• Be available when parents are on campus to prevent disruptions.
• Develop and foster communication with the patrolling law enforcement agency that serves their school.
• Communicate regularly with the site administration as well as the direct supervisor.
• Interact with parents in an educational setting.
• Complete other assigned duties.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to qualify for appropriate licensure or TN POST certification.
• Weapons qualifications at or above established standards.
• Certified in First Aid, CPR, and “Stop the Bleed”.

Skills

• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Knowledge of and ability to use a portable radio.
• Use of basic computer skills.

Pay

Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience (Grade F Salary Scale).
