Pay
$17.55 – $20.65 per hour
Schedule
Approximately 20 hours per week, typically four hours per day during the morning or afternoon.
Responsibilities
- Gain practical workplace experience while completing your diploma, degree or certificate.
- Support an Oakland County department with entry‑level duties, typically clerical or administrative in nature.
- Complete assignments that may vary depending on the needs of your assigned department.
- Use current Countywide and department‑specific software and technology.
- Work approximately 20 hours per week, typically four hours per day during the morning or afternoon.

Qualifications
- Be at least sixteen (16) years of age.
- Be enrolled in high school working on completion of diploma; OR be enrolled in college working on completion of degree; OR be enrolled in a technical business institute, vocational school, or adult/community education program working on completion of diploma or certificate.
- Individuals under the age of eighteen (18) who have not graduated high school must have a Co‑operative Training Agreement or Work Permit issued through their school.
- Adult education classes or certificate programs do not qualify unless the coursework leads to the completion of a high school diploma or post‑high school certificate requiring a minimum of one (1) year.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
- Completion of courses in subjects related to the type of work performed.
- Reasonable ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Reasonable ability to use a personal computer and word processing software.
- Reasonable ability to write legibly.
- Reasonable ability to communicate with fellow workers and the general public.
- Reasonable ability to maintain clerical records.
- Familiarity with current word processing, spreadsheet, database, e‑mail, and Internet software.
Special Requirements
- Proof of enrollment will be required at the time of hire.
- High school students enrolled in a work‑education program must present evidence from their school that they are enrolled in an authorized school program.
Essential Job Functions
- Index and file alphabetically, numerically, or according to subject matter, departmental documents, reports, and records.
- Answer routine public inquiries by providing information involving standardized departmental procedures and requiring a basic familiarity with departmental operations.
- Sort and distribute mail and departmental materials.
- Operate office machines such as adding machines, calculators, scanner, and copy machine.
- Post standard data to departmental records using a computer terminal or personal computer.
- Move materials and assist in stocking and maintaining stored items in storeroom areas and cabinets in a neat and orderly condition.
- Utilize current Countywide and/or department‑specific software to complete assignments.
Additional Duties
- Prepare correspondence, reports and records from rough draft or general instructions using personal computer software.
- Assist in periodic inventories of stocks and supplies.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to communicate to accurately convey information.
- May be required to deliver (drive) case files or documents on County campus.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a typical office and/or storeroom environment.
