Student Pastor/Director

About the role

The Student Pastor/Director is a full-time (40 hrs./week) staff position. The central function of this role is to assist in implementing Capshaw Baptist Church’s vision: Treasuring Jesus, Becoming Like Him Together, and Sharing His Gospel. The Student Ministry is an extension and integral part of the larger ministry at Capshaw. The Student Pastor will faithfully develop and lead the systems and structures of this ministry to support multi-generational discipleship in the church and community.

About Our Church

Capshaw Baptist Church is located in Harvest, Alabama, just minutes from Huntsville and Madison. Over the past several years, the Lord has been kind to grow and strengthen our church in both depth and number.

• Confessionally grounded in the Baptist Faith and Message (2000) and the Abstract of Principles (Statement of Theological Principles for Leaders at Capshaw)
• Committed to expositional, reformed, gospel-centered preaching and teaching
• Led by a plurality of elders
• Focused on making disciples through intentional community

God has allowed us to strengthen our ecclesiology and leadership structure, launch and grow discipleship groups, expand and improve our campus to serve our people and community, and reach new families in a rapidly growing area.

About Our Region: North Alabama

Huntsville – A City of Innovation and Influence

Huntsville is one of the fastest-growing cities in the Southeast and is nationally recognized for its leadership in technology, engineering, and defense. With major employers connected to aerospace, military, and research, the city draws highly skilled professionals and families from across the country.

Madison – A Thriving Family Community

Madison is widely known for its excellent school system and strong family culture. It is one of the most desirable places to live in North Alabama, especially for young families.

Athens – A Community of Heritage and Growth

Athens offers a blend of small-town charm and steady expansion. With both long-standing families and new residents, it provides a relationally rich ministry context.

Why This Matters for Student Ministry

The Huntsville–Madison–Athens region is uniquely positioned for impactful student ministry:

• Rapid population growth brings new families consistently
• Cultural diversity from military, engineering, and local communities
• Strong academic environments shaping thoughtful students
• Spiritual need among families who may be successful but spiritually disconnected

This is not maintenance ministry—this is mission field leadership.

The Opportunity

The Student Pastor will:

• Provide pastoral leadership to middle, high school, college students, and young adults
• Teach Scripture faithfully and expositionally
• Develop and lead a team of volunteers and leaders
• Build relationships with students and families
• Create environments for discipleship, evangelism, and community
• Integrate student ministry into the broader mission of the church

This role is both pastoral and missional—requiring a shepherd’s heart and a leader’s vision.

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a man who:

• Meets the biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership (1 Timothy 3; Titus 1)
• Is deeply committed to the authority and sufficiency of Scripture
• Teaches in a gospel-centered, Christ-exalting manner
• Has a passion for discipling students and equipping parents
• Demonstrates humility, relational warmth, and theological conviction
• Works well within a team of elders and staff

What Makes This Opportunity Unique

• A rapidly growing and strategic ministry context
• A church committed to theological depth and biblical faithfulness
• A leadership culture that values discipleship and development
• A congregation eager to see the next generation reached and equipped

This is an opportunity to labor in a place where the harvest is plentiful and the need for faithful shepherds is great.
