Student Office Assistant - POOL

Responsibilities
- 75% - General Office Duties
- Provide administrative support to the School of Music Communications Office.
- Perform general office duties, including telephone and visitor reception, word processing, filing, copying, data entry, mail distribution, and related administrative tasks.
- Assist with departmental communications and office operations as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 25% - Faculty Support
- Provide administrative and operational support to faculty as needed.
- Assist with scheduling, event coordination, and other logistical needs within the School of Music.
- Support departmental activities and projects as requested.
Requirements
- Excellent written communication skills, as evidenced by application materials and work history.
- Experience working within the School of Music or supporting music-related programs, activities, or offerings at KU, as evidenced by application materials and work history.
- During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must:
- Have been enrolled in no fewer than 6 hours in the past spring semester, or
- Be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no fewer than 6 hours, or
- Be enrolled in summer session, or
- Be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester.
- Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments do not apply to Student Hourly appointments).
- Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
- This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
Qualifications
- Students pursuing a Music major or related field, as indicated on application materials.
- Federal Work Study eligibility preferred, as indicated on application materials.
Pay
$10.75 per hour
Schedule
Anticipated start date: Thursday, August 27, 2026. The successful candidate must commit to a set schedule for the semester.
