Student Nurse Extern Program

Role: Student Nurse Extern — an experiential learning position for nursing students to gain bedside experience while completing their RN degree. Responsibilities: Provide basic patient care under RN supervision, including hygiene, vital signs, mobility, and comfort measures. Perform approved advanced technical procedures like phlebotomy and Foley catheter removal, following training. Support patient safety, confidentiality, and dignity, while communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team. Assist with transporting supplies, maintaining a clean environment, and participating in unit improvement initiatives. Promote positive patient experiences through compassionate care and teamwork. Qualifications & Skills: High school diploma or equivalent, at least one clinical rotation in an acute care setting, and completion of one semester in an accredited nursing program. Must hold BLS certification. Strong communication, interpersonal, multitasking, and computer skills are essential. Ability to work in stressful situations, adhere to infection control policies, and demonstrate professionalism is required.
