Student Monitor

Summary

Maintain order among students during lunch, recess, study hall, in-school and/or after school detention. Assist with individual behavior management. Offer educational guidance to students needing extra help. Take attendance; organize activities for students. Perform routine maintenance tasks like composting and trash disposal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Monitor students during lunch, recess, study hall, in-school and/or after school detention.
  • Ensure all students have access to food.
  • Help students open/close containers during lunch.
  • Communicate and enforce proper behavior and manners.
  • Assist with student behavior management.
  • Take attendance in study hall and In-After School Suspension/Detention.
• Support students in safe lining up and re-entering the building.
• Communicate behavioral concerns to administration.
• Provide additional educational guidance to students.
• Assess playground safety and report issues.
• Ensure student safety under all circumstances.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Related Work Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• No experience required.
• One-year experience providing general supervision to students or within a classroom environment preferred.
• Experience with working with school age children preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Licenses, Registrations or Certifications

• Criminal background check required for hire.

Salary Information

• All Classified positions are paid on an hourly basis.
• Initial placement on Step 1 of the pay grade for the position.
• Can advance up to 7 additional steps (maximum Step 8).
• Final hourly placement on the Classified Salary schedule is dependent on the Grade Level for the position being posted and employees' previous work experience.
