Student Med Tech

Summary

Student Medical Technologists provide information for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease by conducting medical laboratory tests, procedures, and analyses under the supervision of a Medical Technologist. The Student Medical Technologist's job includes preparing the samples for examination, using automated equipment and specialized instrumentation, performing tests and accurately interpreting the results in a timely manner in order to enable the clinician to utilize the data when making treatment decisions.

Other Information

• Be a junior or senior in a program granting a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or has a Bachelor's degree and is enrolled in a nationally accredited Medical Technology program which will award a certificate in Medical Technology upon successful completion.
• Must possess language, math, and reasoning skills which allow for the analysis, interpretation, and valid conclusion to be made during data collection and during mechanical or scientific procedures.
• Must be able to effectively present gathered data orally or in writing to management or regulatory agencies.
