About The Job

The University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR) seeks a Student Life Support Assistant to support various areas of student life throughout the academic year. This position is ideal for those interested in higher education, particularly in the Student Life areas. Not eligible for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship and does not offer a STEM OPT training program. Works in-person at the University of Minnesota Rochester campus in Rochester, MN.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Counseling, Disabilities Resources, and Academic Identification and assistance in connecting Counseling, the Disability Resource Center, and the OMC clinic into an holistic student support plan.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of promotional materials for Counseling, health, and Disability Resources.
  • Wellbeing and Recreation Support: Expand program participation and offered programs for the Student Wellbeing team.
  • Community Engagement: Manage the Raptor report, campus e-newsletter, and UMR events calendar; assist with the administration of Raptor Link.
  • Manage student clubs and administrative tasks such as event requests and budgets; lead the implementation of UMR Community Day of Service.
  • Intercultural Initiatives: Support, plan, and implement events in the Intercultural Student Center; market events and update social media accounts.
  • Non-Traditional Student Support: Assist with transfer student orientation, activities, and events; track and support retention efforts.
  • Living Learning Communities: Assist with programming planning and implementation; support Community Mentors training and support.
  • Residential Life: Assist with housing front desk management and operations; support program planning and implementation.
  • Team/Campus Collaboration: Participate in committees, projects, and assignments based on interest and educational need; attend regular meetings.

Qualifications

  • A four-year college degree.
  • Experience in Google applications (Calendar, Documents, Forms, and Sites).
  • Familiarity with equity-minded strategies for student support.
  • Experience with private student data and confidential information.
  • Data tracking and interpretation skills.
  • Collaborative and innovative mindset.
  • Interpersonal skills and knowledge dissemination.
  • Commitment to UMR values: human potential, diversity and inclusivity, community, evidence-based decision making, and respect.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivation, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Technology proficiency.
  • Occasional evenings and weekends.

Pay And Benefits

Pay Range: $17.00; depending on education/qualifications/experience. Retirement plan options are available for Civil Service, Faculty, Labor-Represented, Professional & Administrative, and Temp Casual classifications.
