About the role
The Student Liaison Director leads the Student Ambassador Team and coordinates student engagement across Cougs 4 Kids programming (virtual and in-person). You’ll ensure scheduling, communication, preparation, and youth-safety practices are handled with excellence—so students and youth both walk away feeling supported and connected.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, train, and manage a volunteer Student Ambassador Team to support student engagement logistics.
- Coordinate all student engagement across Cougs 4 Kids programming (virtual and in-person).
- Ensure student involvement aligns with university/partner guidelines, youth-safety protocols, privacy expectations, and any required documentation.
- Prepare students for their roles (e.g., moderated Q&As, panels, encouragement messages) with guidance, rehearsal, and clarity.
- Maintain a strong communication loop between students, advisors, event leads, and program staff.
- Maintain consent and media-release tracking (when applicable) and ensure respectful, safe, and age-appropriate interactions.
- Monitor satisfaction and impact for both youth and students using post-event feedback tools.
- Partner with Marketing & Outreach to celebrate student involvement publicly (with consent).
Qualifications
- Passionate about youth development and post-secondary education.
- Familiar with WSU culture and student life.
- Organized and experienced in coordination, documentation, and/or volunteer leadership.
- Comfortable working with Google Workspace (Calendar, Meet, Forms, Drive).
- Professional and discreet—especially around privacy, scheduling, and youth-safety practices.
- Committed to cultural humility and uplifting diverse youth voices.
Time Commitment
- Planning & Prep: ~5–10 hours/month
- Final 4 weeks before camp: ~10 hours/week
- During camp: Full-time for 5–7 days
- Post-camp debrief & reporting: ~5 hours
Volunteer Requirements
- Minimum one-year commitment.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Background check and youth protection training.
