Student Intern (Residential Division-Nassau Haven)

Responsibilities

• Provide supportive interaction and engagement with residents in a safe and structured environment
• Assist with individual supportive counseling under supervision
• Support the development and implementation of Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and goal planning
• Participate in and help facilitate group activities and house meetings
• Auxiliary in independent living skills development and daily living support
• Make referrals and provide resource linkage to community-based services
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including progress notes
• Collaborate with residential staff to support resident needs and program goals
• Assist with intakes, orientation, and transition planning as needed
• Attend supervision, staff meetings, and required trainings
• Assume other tasks, projects, or responsibilities as needed to ensure the effective operation of the program

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field
• Interest in working with at-risk youth in a residential or shelter setting
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
• Willingness to learn and apply trauma-informed and youth-centered approaches
