Student Intern, Facility Maintenance

Responsibilities

• Maintain and preserve all flooring and/or covering by scrubbing, stripping, waxing, buffing and sweeping surface.
• Clean and sanitizes restrooms and associated fixtures.
• Washes walls, windows, ceilings and woodwork.
• Dusts desks, bookshelves, cabinets and other office furniture.
• Collects and disposes of all trash, litter, and other debris on grounds, streets and parking lots.
• Sweeps and cleans exterior steps, entrances, landings and sidewalks.
• Uses basic cleaning compounds, waxes and disinfectants as provided by supervision.
• Maintains center appearance and preserves all improved grounds by cleaning, weeding, mowing, trimming, sprinkling, fertilizing, reseeding or planting.
• Maintains all trees or shrubs by pruning, trimming and spraying.
• Participates in student employability programs and activities.
• Maintains accountability of students and property; adheres to safety practices.
• Provides positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers.
• Supports, promotes, and enforces the Job Corps' Zero Tolerance Policy.
• Promotes the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
• Maintains accountability of students and property; adheres to safety practices.
• Cultivates and maintains a climate on center which is free of harassment, intimidation and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.

Requirements

Must be able to perform physical labor and lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in a similar position preferred.

Skills

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions.
