About the Role
The incumbent is a student hourly position working at Watkins Health Services (WHS). This role involves staffing the Information Desk in the lobby to greet customers, assist with questions, and provide support in using WHS services. The position requires handling confidential information in accordance with state and federal laws and University policies. Familiarity with computer technology, including an electronic registration system, is necessary. The incumbent must adhere to the WHS Customer Service Plan to ensure positive interactions with internal and external customers.
Responsibilities
- Engage with students throughout the service experience (60%).
- Greet persons entering the building, monitor the lobby, and report any unusual activity to administrative staff (15%).
- Provide wayfinding instructions to various service areas, answer questions, or direct persons to appropriate resources (15%).
- Instruct new users on the Check-In Kiosk and escort customers to specific destinations within the health center as needed (10%).
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours during the semester term of the appointment.
- For summer periods, must meet one of the following:
- Enrolled in no fewer than 6 hours in the past spring semester, or
- Pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no fewer than 6 hours, or
- Enrolled in summer session, or
- Admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester.
- Undergraduate or graduate students may apply (exceptions for GRA/GTA/GA appointments do not apply).
- Must be available to work in 2-4 hour blocks of time.
- Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved.
- Cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Office products.
- Preferred:
- Freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate-level student.
- Prior customer service experience.
- Health-related major or background.
Pay
$10.25 per hour.
