About the role

Achieve your career goals at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital's Respiratory Therapy Services. This part-time position is benefits-eligible with flexible schedule options.

Major Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of a licensed respiratory therapist, perform routine and basic level respiratory therapy procedures.
  • Organize and maintain the supply of respiratory therapy equipment and supplies.
  • Clean and reassemble equipment as needed, following proper procedures and standard precautions.
  • Process disposable and non-disposable equipment based on infection prevention guidelines.
  • Complete annual hospital competencies.
  • Learn new equipment, procedures, and processes as needed.
  • Perform various patient positioning and transporting duties, requiring lifting and pushing/pulling with proper technique.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited or approved program in Respiratory Therapy.
  • No prior experience required.

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to function independently.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Walk, stand, squat, reach above the shoulders, and sit throughout the workday.
  • Repetitively use hands for simple grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine manipulation.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Push/pull with 30 lbs. of force, perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
  • Functional speech, vision, and hearing.
  • Exposed to chemical and radiation hazards, blood and body fluids; personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
  • Operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
